What is Laser Hair Removal?
We use the Cynosure Elite dual platform medical grade laser. A modern design for fast, safe, and effective treatments. This technology combines to optimal laser wavelengths in one system: the 755nm Alexandrite laser and the 1064nm Nd:YAG Laser. The Alexandrite wavelength has high melanin absorption characteristics and proven long term results make it a wavelength for excellent hair reduction, permanently reducing hair by an average of 80% after just three treatments. The high powered Nd:YAG is the safest and the most effective wavelength for darker skin types. The wavelength can also be switched during a single procedure, allowing for the use of the most appropriate laser for any given hair or skin type. The Cynosure Elite laser is safe for all skin types.
How Does it work?
The primary principle behind laser hair removal is selective photothermolysis (SPTL), the matching of a specific wavelength of light and pulse duration to obtain optimal effect on a targeted tissue with minimal effect on surrounding tissue. Lasers can cause localized damage by selectively heating dark target matter, melanin, thereby heating up the basal stem cells in the follicle which causes hair growth, the hair follicle, while not heating the rest of the skin. Light is absorbed by dark objects but reflected by light objects and water, so laser energy can be absorbed by dark material in the hair or skin, with much more speed and intensity than just the skin without any dark adult hair or melanin.
Melanin is considered the primary chromophore for all hair removal lasers currently on the market. Melanin occurs naturally in the skin and gives skin and hair their color. There are two types of melanin in hair. Eumelanin gives hair brown or black color, while pheomelanin gives hair blonde or red color. Because of the selective absorption of photons of laser light, only hair with color such as black, brown, or reddish-brown hair or dirty blonde can be removed. White hair, light blonde and strawberry blonde hair does not respond well. Laser works best with dark coarse hair. Light skin and dark hair are an ideal combination, being most effective and producing the best results.
Duration
10 minutes to 1 hour depending on the treatment area
How many treatments are necessary?
Only hair in the active growth stage of the growth cycle is affected, therefore, multiple treatments are
needed. Treatment is conducted every 4-8 weeks, depending on the site treated, until a satisfactory result is seen. The number of treatments required varies, but typically 6 or more treatments are required for maximum results.

Frequently asked Questions
1-What areas can be treated?
–Hair from the face, back, chest, arms, underarms, bikini lines and legs can be treated.
2-What type of result can I expect?
–Expect to see a gradual decrease in the hair thickness and in the amount of hair present.
3-How long does the treatment take?
–Treatments times depend on the size of the area but typically take less than 30 minutes.
4-What does the procedure feel like? –Patients describe a range of sensations from tingling to the snap of a rubber band during the procedure. 5-When can I resume my daily activities? –Typically, there is no downtime and you can return to your daily activities immediately following the procedure. 6-How many treatments will I need? –Since our hair grows in cycles multiple treatments are often recommended for desired results. Other factors that influence this include hair color, texture and area being treated.
